Hospital Automation

The Bangladesh public health system is moving to achieve an ICT-based environment for improving management efficiency and transparency. One government clinic (Bangladesh Secretariat Clinic) is already transformed into an automated system. In 2012,

three hospitals have been included for automation. These hospitals are National Institute of Kidney Diseases & Urology (NIKDU), Government Employees’ Hospital and Azimpur Maternity Hospital. Through automation, all hospital processes will be undertaken by using ICT. Gradually all hospitals be automated. The system architecture will be based on Open-MRS (Open Medical Record System – open source software). Health Information System Program of India (HISP-India) and GIZ are helping to deploy OpenMRS in Bangladesh.
